Why "Like A Badass" ?

The Meaning Behind the Name

I decided to name my blog "Like A Badass" because I consider the phrase to be my life mantra. This phrase is very important to me, as it found me at a time in my life when I felt very defeated.

A few years back, life was “getting me down” per say in several aspects. I was beginning to blame everything and everyone but myself for my problems, and I was starting to adopt a sort of "victim" mentality. Without realizing it, I was starting to lose myself and the self-worth I had worked to build for much of my life, due to the negativity I was allowing to consume my thoughts and feelings.

Over time, days of negativity turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Finally, on a day in which I was drowning in self-pity, a wise man told me: "Just be a badass."

It was one of those lightbulb moments that people speak about. I never believed these moments existed, until it happened to me. It was like a wake-up call; almost a slap in the face (but in a good way). To me, it was a realization that by choosing to "be a badass", or to love and believe in myself, grit things out, and grow through what I go through, the light at the end of the tunnel can be visible. I was finally beginning to realize that things eventually get better in time, and that changed everything for me.

Today, I continue to struggle with overthinking, self-pity and stubbornness. These struggles will be life-long, and that I am sure. However, whenever the phrase "just be a badass" comes into my mind, my struggles become just a little easier to face.

I am forever grateful for that light-hearted “just be a badass” phrase that was said to me years ago, because I still carry it with me and use it as a tool in my life forever.
